Biography

As one of the great first call drummers in Atlanta, Brandon Faulkner stands strong amongst highly skilled performers and instructors, but is unparalleled in his passion and ambition to build his reputation as the right man for any gig. Hailing from eastern North Carolina, Brandon picked up his first set of sticks at age 7 and continued to develop his skill through a full education in a state of the art program at Atlanta Institute of Music. Even with all his talent, Brandon remains a young inspired drummer willing to admit that no matter how accomplished you become, receiving instruction from other esteemed professionals should never be slighted. It is with this attitude that he still turns to the teaching and guidance he has received from such a notable drummer and mentor as Tom Knight, nationally acclaimed drummer for pop group TLC, to instructional and performance DVDs from respected musicians. Brandon’s desires have led him through years of performing and providing private instruction, to push his goals in new directions that will allow a continued joy from playing drums.

During the early stages Brandon played with various original bands to build his aptitude, until, he and a couple other well established friends put together their own inspirations to bring forth PAPERSTREET. This original band, strongly influenced by the rock genre, highlights a defining period in his life. For the next 6 years, the band toured the Southeast, as well as performed various local venues all while dedicating much time to the production and release of their first record, Everything’s Alright in late 2005. Along with this accomplishment, Brandon continues to perform a mixture of musical styles with other local Atlanta artists and friends, his reputation is founded on his ability to learn not only the original work of a fellow musician but also to be able to quickly learn, perform and/or improvise play of a wide range of popular covers.

As he continually strives to further his ability to play all genres of music from rock, pop, funk, and blues, to expanding his mental library to include new modern songs, Brandon has begun to take the thrill of playing and use his conceptions to branch off into an exploration of production, booking, and management of bands and other musicians, as a means to foster his ideas into a reality. Even with his pursuit of a new path in the music industry, Brandon holds true to the one thing that stirs within, the one priority of life, playing and educating others about drums. He still continues to teach lessons through private instruction, is working on the promotion of an instructional/motivational DVD, in addition to the production of new clinics. His life is dedicated to bettering not only his expertise but sharing the delight brought to him through music and the playing of drums.
